RESULTS 2014-15
Race 7 22nd April 2015 Wrexham
Most of the team honours had been all but decided before this race, but, with a number of closely contested individual awards still to be decided, a field of 268 assembled on the start line in the evening sunshine at Wrexham for the 4 mile-long season finale.
Daniel Weston clinched his second race win of the season, along with the Senior Mens and Overall Mens title. Seven seconds behind him came the V45 category winner Lee Jones, who achieved his 50th Borders top 10 finish in doing so.
Meanwhile, the Womens race saw a first-time Borders win for Chester Tris Zoe McLennan. 2nd place was sufficient for Sarah Kearney to take both the V40 Womens and Overall Womens trophies.
The Mens team competition saw Wirral AC win on the night in Division One to confirm their second place behind champions Wallasey AC. This outcome was mirrored in Division Two, whereHelsbyÀús win guaranteed their promotion behind champions West Cheshire.
TattenhallÀús women reaffirmed their superiority with a win on the night to become Womens Division One champions, while in Division Two, Chester Tri already confirmed as winners had an even more emphatic victory ahead of West Cheshire, who earned the second promotion spot.
Buckley held off WallaseyÀús challenge to take the Veterans title, while the Improvers trophies were shared by Wrexham (Men) and Wrecsam Tri (Women).

Race 6 12th April 2015 Caernarfon
Another race in which the elements had a significant say the gale-force sou-westerly obliging organisers Eryri Harriers to run the race clockwise round the 10K Caernarfon course. A somewhat depleted field of 211 enjoyed an exhilarating downwind run for home along Aberforeshore Road.
The home club made it a 1-2 in the Mens race, with yet another first-time winner Matthew Roberts finishing 13 seconds clear of Gwyn Owen, running his first Borders race since 2007. The Womens race saw Sarah Kearney (Wirral) finish a minute clear of Lisa Grantham (Chester Tri).
In the team competitions, Wallasey extended their lead over a weakened Wirral team by another 200 points in the Mens Division 1. Eryri won the Division 2 Mens race convincingly on the day, but this had no impact on the top of the table.
Another win for TattenhallÀús women leaves them all but assured of the Division 1 title after Wirral were unable to field a full team. Meanwhile, the Division 2 win by Chester TriÀús women assured them of the League title with a race to spare.
Buckley continue to hold a slender lead over Wallasey in the battle for the Veterans title, with the rest of the field nowhere.

Race 5 22nd March 2015 Mold
In contrast to the previous race, 242 runners made the familiar ascent up to Nercwys and down again in dazzling spring sunshine. Despite the clash with the Wilmslow Half, there was a quality field.
Once again, the Mens race saw a first-time winner, with Russell Bentley of Eryri finishing half a minute clear of Daniel Weston on his BL debut. Emily Kearney of Wirral made it 3 wins in a row in the Womens race, with mum Sarah second.
Wallasey continued their march to the Division 1 Mens team title with another emphatic victory on the day ahead of Wirral. Similarly, in Division 2, the top places appear to be all but decided withWest Cheshire and Helsby seemingly destined for promotion.
TattenhallÀús strength in depth enabled them to consolidate their lead over Wirral in the top Womens division. Meanwhile in Division 2, Chester TriÀús lead is almost unassailable, with West Cheshire and Abergele disputing the other promotion place.

Race 4 8th March 2015 Parc y Ffrith, Prestatyn
Heavy rain and cold winds meant we failed to see the best of host club Prestatyn RCs new and interesting seaside venue. A slightly depleted field of just under 250 runners braved the elements.
This should not detract from the achievements of the two winners: Dean Longley pipping Rob Grantham and Lee Jones in the Mens race for a home club victory (and his first-ever in the BL), while Emily Kearney took her second successive victory in the Womens race.
A fantastic team performance from Wallasey AC saw their counters take 10 of the first 33 places to establish a virtually unassailable lead in the Mens Division 1 table. TattenhallÀús women maintained their lead over Wirral in the Womens Division 1 table.
Congratulations also to Glenda Davies of Prestatyn, who completed 100 Borders League appearances today to join a distinguished list of centurions.

Race 3 11th Jan 2015 Birkenhead Park
A dull, windy, but dry day saw the Upper Park host a 4 lap race attended by 314 runners the first time the Borders League has seen a 300+ field in 3 consecutive races.
Lee Jones of Deeside returned after missing Tattenhall to record his 2nd Borders Mens win this season and 7th triumph overall. Emily Kearney of Wirral recorded her first victory this season in the Womens race.
WallaseyÀús men ensured victory on the day from Wirral, to consolidate their lead at the top of Division 1. Conversely, a bad day for TattenhallÀús women saw their commanding Division 1 lead halved, giving hope to Wirral and Ellesmere Port in 2nd and 3rd.

Race 2 7th Dec 14 Tattenhall
The showers held off, and the second Borders League race of the season took place in pleasantly sunny, if breezy conditions.
An excellent turnout (314 overall) was seen from all Borders clubs. Only two teams had no representatives.
It was nice to see Wrexham AAC featuring strongly this time out, finishing 2nd on the day in Division 2, and providing the 1st and 3rd finishers in the Mens race.
Congratulations to Daniel Weston on his victory, as well as to Gill Mead of Chester Tri for a second successive win in the Womens race.

Race 1 9th Nov 14 Cheshire View, Christleton
Perfect conditions ensured a huge overall turnout of 351 the second highest ever in the history of the BL.
This included a record womens turnout of 113.
Congratulations to Lee Jones (Deeside) on his 6th BL win, and to Gill Mead (Chester Tri) on her first.
